Nicola Catena planted his first vineyards in Mendoza in 1902. His grandson, Nicolás Catena (who now heads up the winery) is known as the man who revolutionised Argentine wine and introduced the world to high altitude wines. The Catena name is now synonymous with the very best wines of the world, not just in Argentina. Plush and polished with an elegant core, this Malbec opens with ripe blackberry, damson and blueberry compote layered over subtle notes of violet, cocoa and baking spice. The palate is silky yet structured, with fine tannins and a fresh lift of acidity that carries the dark fruit through to a long, savoury finish. A smart expression of Vista Flores terroir - generous but poised, with just enough grip to reward a bit of patience.
